THE STICKY NOTE OF NEWS

I've got a new About Me page! No particular reason, I just thought it was a fun replacement for the now-defunct Review Policy page I had before. Plus I can chop and change it on a regular basis, which will give me something else to play with when I'm bored at the shop. :)

RAK: July becomes August

You may remember that last month I went a bit OTT with my RAK pressies - but since it made everyone happy, including me, I thought it was well worth it!  This month I decided to take part again but maybe pare things down a bit to a more normal level, for the sake of my screaming bank account.  And it worked out pretty well, I think!  Check it out...

If you haven't already heard about RAK, it's a monthly project run by Book Soulmates.  There are sign-ups at the start of every month, in which you link to your wishlist, name a few of your current must-read titles - then go check out everyone else's!  You can give as many or as few RAKs as you like - though you're encouraged to give SOMETHING if you're participating, of course.  This has the dual effect of making you feel all happy and warm about sending something, AND you might just get a bookish surprise in the post in return!

What I Sent

This month I chose to send a book to the lovely Adam at Roof Beam Reader...  You may remember that he very kindly sent me a copy of his favourite Palahniuk novel for last month's RAK.  I like Adam's wishlist because it always has some killer books to choose from; this time I went for the mammoth cult classic, Michael Chabon's The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay.  It might inspire me to finally dig out my own copy and get stuck in over the summer too!  ;)

Happy reading to everyone who took part this month.  Adam - I hope I chose well!  :)

What I Received

The lovely Laura at Devouring Texts - who is also my Twitter and Pinterest buddy, yay! - very kindly sent me a copy of one of her favourite recent reads, The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins.  Not only is it apparently an AMAZING book (says, y'know, everyone) but it's also the extra-purty Vintage Classics edition.  And you all know how much I love those...  Thank you Laura!  :)

Signing Up for August

I'm signing up again for another month!  I might not take part in September (because I'm going away on my FIRST HOLIDAY IN ABOUT SEVEN YEARS, WOOHOO!) so I reckoned I'd make August count instead.  As usual, you can check out all the Random Acts of Kindness project details, along with the sign-up form and this month's participants, by heading over to Book Soulmates HERE.

My RAK wishlist, which includes The Stepford Wives, The Art of Fielding and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, is HERE

Happy RAK for August!

    1. Hooray! Yes, blogging life and real life both seem to suddenly get hectic at this time of year, don't they? And don't even get me started on my long-neglected monster of an email inbox, oops... :(

I'm very much looking forward to THE WOMAN IN WHITE, I've heard nothing but ringing praise! Maybe a Hallowe'en read, if I haven't caved and read it before that?
