As you all know, Project Mount TBR is now well underway - but most of my progress so far has been in culling unread books, not actually, y'know, reading them. So when I spotted this monthly challenge over at Booking in Heels, I couldn't resist!
It's hosted by I'm Loving Books, and it pretty much does what it says on the tin. You use some method of picking a random title from your TBR list (using a random number generator, throwing something at your bookcase, whatever), add your Random Reads post to the linky, then read your book(s) by the end of the month. Tres simple, non?
I've decided to optimistically pick TWO Random Reads this month, just because I really need to start toppling Mount TBR in earnest! I still have two library books to finish first, but even with the start of the summer holidays looming I'm hoping it'll be doable...
The first book was picked using Random.org and my Mount TBR page. This generated letter number 6 (F), book number 7 - Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson. One of my shiniest, newest, most anticipated books, hooray! The 'Random Books from My Library' box on my LibraryThing profile provided my second book - the top one on the list was Diana by Sarah Bradford. Definitely one I'll be happy to read and pass on at long last...

So, that's what I'll be reading in July, as soon as There Is No Dog (Meg Rosoff) and In Cold Blood (Truman Capote) are read, reviewed and safely back at the library... What's on your reading list for July?

Oh yay! I think I might have a mild obsession with this meme thing - I get so excited whenever it's time to choose my book, but also whenever I see someone else's post, especially one of my bloggery friends.
ReplyDeleteI really want to read Fear and Loathing too - Lewis has it and he really liked it, so I'll get to it at some point when I'm at his with nothing to read.
Oh, Diana! I didn't even realise it was THAT Diana until I went back at looked at the cover *is a moron* Sounds interesting.
I saw it last month on your blog, then forgot about it until now! I reckon I could get properly addicted to this one, so watch this space...
DeleteI've been wanting to read Hunter Thompson for AGES, so I'm excited about that one. And the Diana book... Part of me is screaming "Don't do it, you'll look like a Daily Mail reader!" and the other part of me this thinking "Read it, woman! She grew up alongside your mum, she was such a good person! Read it!" So I will. :)
Fear & Loathing has been on my TBR for the longest time! I'll definitely keep an eye out for your review. I really like the look of this challenge & may well take part myself, just as soon as I've updated my TBR list!

What a cool way to pick what books to read next! I've never tried it because I have to be in the mood for a book and can't force myself to read it. But maybe I should try it sometime. I might be happily surprised!
