Just a quick post to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our little bookshop! As of today, we have officially been open for three years... During that time we've had a little help from my sister, my grandmother and my dad; we've developed and expanded our range of cards and gifts; our shelves have flourished and filled; old friends and book-mad bloggers have visited; shops have come and gone around us - and we're still here, signed up for another three years of Bakewell bookselling!
Usually we celebrate our birthday on Carnival day - next Saturday - when the town's alive with music and parades and wanton drunkenness good cheer, but it feels a long way off this year so I'm celebrating today regardless! Have a party popper on us! :)

Happy birthday to the shop! I didn't know you were in Bakewell--I went there once and had a Bakewell tart and everything. Peveril Castle too. Long ago. :-)

ReplyDeleteThe shop says ZOMG THANK YOU *blushes*! It does seem a bit crazy that we're still open, especially when so many people clearly thought we were insane to even try. I think it helps that we pay ourselves so little, actually, so we're sorta cheating - we've traded off happy(ish) working for below-minimum-wage pay, but since I hardly spend anything anyway I don't mind too much! :)
