Now, you all know that I have blogs and bloggers that I seem to mention over and over again, whether because they're good friends of mine (Jess of Jess Hearts Books and Rachel of In the Library of LadyViolet, my bestest book buds), or because they're just awesome and add multiple books to my groaning wishlist every month (Lindsey at Amused, Bemused and Confused).
But for some reason, I don't think I've ever floated by to expound the virtues of Rebecca, or The Book Lady, as she is bloggiversally known. I mention her now because despite coming to work today with a list of things to do between customers - read Lauren Kate's Passion ready for my blog tour stop on 5 June, pare down my Amazon wishlist a bit, deal with some emails, start writing posts for the 'Page to Screen' event I'm holding here this summer - I've ended up spending the last FOUR HOURS reading Rebecca's blog.

If you've never been over there, do. Right now. It's one of those blogs that just sparkles with bubbly personality and feisty-girl attitude, with a whole range of posts to appeal to everyone. Whether she's reviewing, ranting, or ribbing her hubbie, she's always hilarious, always thoughtful, and there's always a tantalising list of more posts at the bottom of each article to feed the addiction. I've been skipping from post to post to post ALL DAY and have another seven or eight open in tabs across the top of the browser waiting to be read. Like I said: awesome.
Sooo, what are you waiting for? WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE?!
~ Overheard in the bookshop ~
- "Ooooh, no, love, don't buy that. Wait until next time and see if they have it on '3-for-2'!
(Really? Do we LOOK like a Waterstones?)
- "What does this sign say, Grandma?" (about our no-food sign with cartoon fruit and veg on it)
"It says, 'NO FOOD OR DRINK ALLOWED'"
"But what's this in the picture? Is it a tomato?"
"Yes, I think so. Or maybe a radish?"
"But Grandma, why would they only let people with tomatoes into the shop?"
(Okay, so that was quite cute.)
~ What's going on over here right now? ~
Lots to be getting on with at the moment, in TouristTown AND on the blog. I'm still a third of the way through My Cousin Rachel, which is weird since it's such an intriguing and beautifully written novel. I'm also mid-way through Sara Nelson's So Many Books, So Little Time: A Year of Passionate Reading, and I've put BOTH of those temporarily on hold while I plough through Lauren Kate's forthcoming Passion ready for my first ever blog tour! At the same time as all that, I'm considering revamping the blog a bit, changing a few things around, AND it's just been my birthday, AND it's currently half term so the shop's full to bursting with holidaying families. It only seems like two minutes since it was the Easter hols, where does the time go? Still, at least this gives you a bit of a glimpse as to what's coming up here, even if I'm running a little slowly at the moment! Stay tuned!

This totally makes my day! Thank you so much. :)
ReplyDeleteRebecca was the first book blog I started following and I make it a point to check in that blog daily! Her posts are clever and I agree with most of her book recommendations. She's adorable.
ReplyDeleteI think the best thing about working in a bookstore would be all of the silly conversations you get to hear.
